Motheread/Fatheread literacy program expands in Southern Utah   (Dec. 16, 2004) — The most sustainable way to grow an education program is to train others how to teach it. A four-day training session for new Motheread/Fatheread literacy program instructors took place in Cedar City, last week.

PacifiCorp Foundation funding launches new literacy initiative in Yakima   (Dec. 2, 2004) — Washington’s successful literacy and parenting program, Motheread/Fatheread, is coming to Yakima, thanks to $150,000 in funding from the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning’s Pacific Power Fund. The foundation is the philanthropic arm of Pacific Power.

Culture & Arts Grants announced by the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning  (Dec. 1, 2004) — In December 2004, the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning awarded nearly $215,000 to 44 nonprofit programs in 23 communities in Idaho, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. 

Small Community Capital Projects Grants announced by the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning  (Dec. 1, 2004) — The PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning is committed to remaining focused on its core-giving priorities, while providing some additional flexibility to support important community projects that may fall outside a strict definition of learning and education.

Crook & Weston County children to receive books through Raising Readers program   (Nov. 16, 2004) —Raising Readers in Wyoming is a new program in Crook and Weston Counties that will help parents prepare their young children to achieve one of the most important milestones they can reach – learning to read.

Spirit of Excellence program generates spirit of giving for PacifiCorp employees  (Nov. 1, 2004) — Utah Power employees, representing four PacifiCorp work teams, presented a $9,000 check to the Primary Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) Foundation, on Friday, October 29. 

Raising Readers Rendezvous celebrates youth literacy and health initiative in Park County  (Oct 26, 2004) — Raising Readers in Wyoming is a program in Park County that helps parents prepare their young children to achieve one of the most important milestones they can reach: learning to read.

Raising Readers Rendezvous promotes reading to children on Wind River Indian Reservation  (Oct 25, 2004) — Raising Readers in Wyoming is a program in Fremont County that helps parents prepare their young children to achieve one of the most important milestones they can reach — learning to read.   
 
PacifiCorp Foundation’s Spirit of Excellence program benefits two Kemmerer organizations (Oct 25, 2004) — Two local non-profit organizations are beneficiaries of funding provided by the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning, through the Foundation’s “Spirit of Excellence” program. On October 20, 2004, the Kemmerer Recreation Center and Fossil Country Museum became the latest Kemmerer organizations to receive funding through the program, with the Recreation Center receiving a check for $2,000 and the Museum receiving a check for $1,000.  
 
Spirit of Excellence donation to help fund United Way programs in Carbon & Emery Counties (Oct 25, 2004) — Residents of Carbon and Emery Counties will soon benefit from a $2,000 donation from the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning to the United Way of Southeastern Utah. The funding was provided as a part of PacifiCorp’s “Spirit of Excellence” program.  

Portland-area education initiatives receive $123,500 from PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning  (Oct. 21, 2004) — Oregon literacy, scholarship and learning initiatives recently received contributions totaling $123,500 from the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning, the charitable arm of Pacific Power.
 
Successful Wyoming reading initiative kicks off in state’s eastern counties  (Oct. 19, 2004) — Raising Readers in Wyoming came to the state’s eastern counties this month with program launches in Platte, Crook, Weston, Niobrara and Goshen counties. This is the third year of the program, which aspires to expand to every Wyoming county and reach 4,900 children by the end of this school year.
 
Roseburg's Safe Haven Maternity Home gets PacifiCorp Foundation grant   (Oct. 4, 2004) — Young mothers moving into apartments at the newly refurbished Grand Apartments in Roseburg, Ore., will be more secure, thanks to a $10,000 grant from the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning. The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Pacific Power. 
 
Toppenish Food Bank nears goal with PacifiCorp Foundation Grant  (Sept. 29, 2004) — Soon the Toppenish Food Bank will have a brand new building in which to help the community’s less fortunate.  The PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning, which is the charitable arm of Pacific Power, announced a $10,000 grant today to help move the organization closer to its $150,000 fundraising goal.  
 
Motheread/Fatheread receives major gift on International Literacy Day  (Sept. 8, 2004) — Glowing in the success of its reading initiative, the Utah Humanities Council’s Motheread/Fatheread program received a $100,000 check today from the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning, the philanthropic arm of Utah Power. The presentation was made in conjunction with International Literacy Day.

Civic & Community Grants announced by the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning  (Sept. 1, 2004) — In September 2004, the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning awarded nearly $175,000 to 45 nonprofit programs in 27 communities in California, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. 

Guadalupe Schools excels with "at risk" kids during summer  (July 22, 2004) — For the Guadalupe Schools' summer education program, it was the summer that almost wasn’t. Instead, the school is wrapping up its month-long program of helping "at risk" children explore and learn about Utah during the summer.

Yreka’s Choice for Children receives boost from PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning (July 9, 2004) — Choices for Children received a $2,000 donation from Pacific Power’s philanthropic arm, the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning, to help fund its English as a Second Language (ESL) program.

Ross Ragland Theatre and OIT receive a boost from Pacific Power Fund  (July 9, 2004) — The Ross Ragland Theatre received a $5,000 donation to purchase a backdrop screen for its stage from Pacific Power’s philanthropic arm, the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning. The Foundation also donated $5,000 to the Oregon Institute of Technology for a program that encourages female junior high school students to consider careers in science and technology.

Folk Dance Festival receives a boost from PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning  (July 9, 2004) — The Idaho International Folk Dance Festival, which begins Aug. 2 in Rexburg, received a $5,000 donation from Utah Power’s philanthropic arm, the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning.

Little Butte Elementary says Project Optimize helped lagging students catch up  (June 29, 2004 ) —  Looking back upon the school year, kindergarten teacher Karin Beagle is pleased how the Project Optimize reading intervention program helped struggling students at Little Butte Elementary.

Parkside Elementary helps struggling students improve literacy using Project Optimize   (June 29, 2004 ) — This past year, struggling kindergarteners at Parkside Elementary were able to catch up to their classmates due to the Project Optimize reading intervention program.

Motheread/Fatheread literacy program expands its reach  (June 24, 2004 )— The most sustainable way to grow an education program is to train others how to teach it. This year, Pippa Keene, director of the family literacy program Motheread/Fatheread, trained 78 new facilitators to help build reading and parenting skills throughout Utah.

Idaho kids receive reading help thanks to additional funding  (June 21, 2004) — Nearly 670 Madison County preschoolers are receiving books to help prepare them for kindergarten thanks to an increase in funding for Idaho’s Parents as Teachers (PAT) Plus by the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning.

2004 Education Grants  (June 2004) — In June 2004 the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning awarded $290,000 to 44 nonprofit programs in 21 communities in California, Idaho, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

Project Optimize helps struggling students succeed in two Portland elementary schools  (May 18, 2004) — Portland’s Vestal and Boise-Eliot elementary schools are reaping the benefits of a reading intervention program funded by the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning’s Pacific Power Fund. The program, Project Optimize, is helping teachers rescue children who arrive at kindergarten unprepared to learn how to read.

King Elementary students present original reader's theater works  (May 18, 2004) — Children at Northwest Portland's King Elementary will present their original stories theatrically with the guidance from teachers from the Northwest Children's Theater and School. 

Portland-area nonprofits receive boost from PacifiCorp Foundation and Pacific Power employees  (May 13, 2004) ― The Oregon Burn Center, STARS Foundation, Boys and Girls Clubs, and United Way of the Columbia Willamette are among 15 Portland-area health and welfare agencies receiving nearly $566,000 in funding from the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning and Pacific Power employees.

Roseburg nonprofits receive Pacific Power Fund boost (April 29, 2004) ― The Douglas County United Way, Boys and Girls Club of the Umpqua Valley and UCAN’s Confidence Clinic received more than $8,000 in support from the Pacific Power Fund of the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning. In addition, Pacific Power employees kicked in another $2,100 to support their local United Way.

Low-income food warehouse gets help to buy new refrigerator     (April 20, 2004) ― The Pacific Power Fund of the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning has donated $5,000 toward purchase of a new commercial freezer for Blue Mountain Action Council (BMAC).

Southwest Oregon Boys & Girls Club awarded $5,000   (April 13, 2004) ― PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning, a fund endowed by Pacific Power and Utah Power, has awarded $5,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Southwest Oregon to promote Project Learn, a nationally recognized program to improve students’ academic skills.

2004 Health & Human Services Grants     (March 2004) ― In March 2004, the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning awarded $820,000 to 83 nonprofit programs in 45 communities in Calfornia, Idaho, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

Yale Valley Arts Festival receives Pacific Power Fund boost (Feb. 16, 2004) ― The Yale Valley Arts Festival recently received a $1,100 boost from Pacific Power’s charitable arm, the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning. The Foundation also provided a $500 grant to the Fort Vancouver Regional Library Foundation for its Yale Valley bookmobile services.

Idaho arts receive Utah Power Fund support (Feb. 13, 2004) ― Utah Power’s charitable arm, the PacifiCorp Foundation for Learning, recently split $4,000 in grants between two local Idaho arts organizations: the Idaho Falls Symphony Society and the Idaho Falls Arts Council.
