Moroni Feed Company in Moroni, Utah, is a fully integrated turkey producing and processing cooperative. When Moroni was looking to upgrade equipment at its 20-year-old processing plant, the company sought ways to find electrical economies and efficiencies.

Through our energy efficiency program, Energy FinAnswer, Moroni took advantage of financial assistance and expert technical advice on energy efficiency upgrades. We worked with our engineering consultants to help Moroni install a refrigeration computer control system and a high-efficiency evaporative condenser with variable speed fan control. Moroni’s goal was to keep down investments in construction and maximize long-term energy savings while achieving production and quality goals.
In addition to saving nearly $80,000 per year in energy costs, Moroni also received incentives of $230,000 from Rocky Mountain Power to help pay for the upgrades. Moroni is also experiencing reduced equipment downtime, shorter compressor operating hours and increased process reliability.
