The Rocky Mountain Power Foundation is part of the PacifiCorp Foundation, one of the largest utility-endowed foundations in
the United States. The Foundation was created in 1988 by PacifiCorp, an electric utility serving 1.7 million customers in
six Western states as Rocky Mountain Power and Pacific Power. It has been determined to be a qualified private, nonprofit
charitable entity by the Internal Revenue Service.
Since 1988, the Foundation has awarded more than 7,057 grants totaling approximately $44.8 million. Last year, the Foundation
awarded more than 319 grants totaling more than $2.4 million.
The Foundation awards grants for requests in four categories:
Grants generally are less than $10,000, with most between $2,000 and $5,000. In general, grants from the Foundation are limited
to charitable nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations. Get more information on
applying for a grant.
The Foundation’s grants come from a separate endowment that is funded periodically over the years from company shareholder
dollars. This independent fund has grown over the years as endowment investment portfolios have increased. It is not a ratepayer
expense that is recovered from Rocky Mountain Power or Pacific Power customers.
