SALT LAKE CITY — Rocky Mountain Power and the American Red Cross are launching their annual statewide partnership to assist
elderly and disabled low-income households through the Lend-a-Hand program. Donations from Rocky Mountain Power and its customers
are used to help qualifying households meet their energy needs, primarily during the cold winter months.
Rocky Mountain Power customers are urged to look for donation envelopes included with their November electricity bills.
"This partnership has been very successful in providing assistance to thousands of people faced with tough decisions about
their basic needs," said Becky Eberle, Rocky Mountain Power program manager. "Our customers have always been very generous
in their donations."
Local American Red Cross offices distribute the funds raised through Lend-a-Hand directly to those who need assistance. During
the 2005-2006 heating season, 1,732 households throughout the state benefited from Lend-a- Hand donations. Together, Rocky
Mountain Power and its customers contributed more than $280,000.
"Partnership programs like Lend-a-Hand make an important difference in the vital work the American Red Cross continues to
perform in our communities," said Maxine Margaritis, Greater Salt Lake Area Chapter American Red Cross CEO. "There is always
a great need for assistance, and we appreciate the ongoing support from Rocky Mountain Power and its customers who choose
to give to those facing difficult circumstances."
