PORTLAND, Ore. – Pacific Power today announced that on Nov. 14 it made its annual property tax payments for the 2006-2007 tax year to Oregon counties, schools and cities.

The tax payments are based on the investments made by Pacific Power in utility property necessary to provide electric service to its customers. The company’s investment ranges from power plants, transmission lines, distribution circuits to transformers and meters. The payments benefit 30 of Oregon's 36 counties.

The statewide payment of more than $16.2 million makes Pacific Power one of the largest property tax-paying entities in Oregon.

"These tax payments help Pacific Power-served counties and communities provide essential services to residents," said Pat Reiten, president of Pacific Power. "The revenues, in part, support the many critical services that residents expect from local government including police and fire protection, education, public health and environmental services."

Pacific Power serves more than 535,000 customers in the state of Oregon.
